Description

A Facility-Based Continuing Care (FBCC) Review (Review) will be undertaken to identify opportunities for changing and improving designated supportive living and long-term care in Alberta in order to improve the lives of continuing care residents and their families and support staff and operators. The Review will assess the existing FBCC model in Alberta with the aim to modernize the model while increasing residents’ quality of care and life, transparency, accountability and efficiency. Further, the Review will consider how best to prevent and manage episodes of transmittable illnesses that affect residents such as influenzas, the annual flu season and pandemics. The Review will include consideration of the role of FBCC as it impacts hospitals and the overall continuing care system including home care.

For the purposes of this Review, FBCC is considered to include designated supportive living and long-term care.
