Description

TRIUMF is seeking to replace an obsolete cold bore 6m - 4T transport magnet, with a
modern low maintenance 6m - 5T room temperature bore persistent field device. Among
the major practical consequences of the updated design, which are reflected in the device specifications in Part C of this document,

-The new solenoid is expected to be able to resume operations after power
interruptions, in a timely manner.

-In the event of a total power loss, the system should be able to maintain
superconducting state up to twelve (12) hours.

-Routine operation of the system should be largely automatic and not require
constant supervision.
