Shopify is inviting the qualified Canadian and international Project Management firms to provide professional project management services for a significant office fit out in downtown Toronto.
Specifically, Shopify is looking to design a 255,934 square-foot (sf) office interior (floors three to six) in The Well, a new mixed-use tower in Toronto. The objective of this RFP process is to discover, learn, and engage a firm that embodies the highest standards of excellence in keeping with Shopify’s ideals and standards.
As the lead of this project, you will oversee the architect and subconsultants to ensure all design elements, factors, risks, and project deliverables are identified, addressed, analyzed and coordinated into all phases of the design, construction documents, and that the works are constructed according to those documents. Shopify requests the Project Managers create and manage all schedules, budgets, and project controls to complete the works.
This project is our shot. We believe The Well is the best opportunity in Canadian history to facilitate people in realizing their professional potential, at scale. Shopify is uniquely positioned to capitalize upon this convergence: we possess the vision, the talent, the real estate, the financial resources, and, most importantly, the will to make this happen. By entering into this partnership, you’ll lead the charge and call to adventure to create one of the greatest working spaces in the North America.
Shopify seeks your team to oversee and interface with the architect’s primary team, comprised of a Lead Designer as well as a Team Lead / Project Architect (to wrangle the design and engineering coordination), and then oversee, manage, and ensure all coordination of the secondary design team (engineering and specialty subconsultants). Your management team will be responsible for overseeing the architectural and interior designers, Shopify’s Real Estate development team, security consultants, mail/logistical consultants, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, quantity surveying, then ensure the architect performs full-time on-site construction inspection and administration, and retain other professional services as required, or requested, by Shopify. Throughout the design and construction, the architects are beholden to you and your generated schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
We have issued a separate RFP to the Architecture firms which will be closing soon. Thereafter, once the PM and Architects have completed the concept design, the PM will assist the architects in developing and issuing scope packages to prospective subconsultants, which the PM will then assist in the analysis of the received bids and subsequent negotiations. The PM will then manage and oversee all elements of the design and construction.
What do you think? Are you pumped for this phenomenal potential new partnership?
We sure are.
If you’re interested, as a formality, we kindly ask you to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Please completely fill in your information here.

One final thought before we proceed; as our projects grow in size and complexity, we are faced with an ever-expanding set of opportunities that incite reflection, growth, and action. How we choose to respond to these opportunities depends on our ambition to influence and shape our communities. It is in this sense that Shopify would like to thank you, the world-class managers who chose to construct order and process, to wrangle controls of systems, who practice your craft daily, for committing to the cause to create. The fruits of your work make this chaotic world a more beautiful place.
We’ll send you more information as soon as the Non-Disclosure Agreement is executed.
Can’t wait!
