This Expression of Interest (“EOI”) is issued by SBL Contractors Ltd. (“SBL”) for the purposes of gathering subcontractor information about the marketplace in order to assist in the determination of purchasing option for the Construction of Awasisak Nikan Child and Family Services at the Thunderchild First Nation. Respondents are asked to respond to SBL and provide the information requested below.
SBL operates in the BC, AB and SK region as a Design-Builder and Construction Management firm. SBL is committed to responsible resource development, environmental performance and building strong partnerships with communities and Indigenous Peoples.
The proposed project is a 9,475 sq. ft. Protection, Prevention and Foster Care/Kinship services centre that will fulfill the needs of the Thunderchild First Nation and the Awasisak Nikan Child and Family Services. This type of services under one roof in a community centric manner will provide the opportunity for healthy lifestyle, promotes culturally based support interventions to ensure the well-being and continuity of family, community and cultural connections that would support the safety and well-being of First Nation children, youth, young adults and families in an approach that is culturally appropriate.
The new Awasisak Nikan Child & Family Services facility will provide a central area for the community identity to develop and promote healthy lifestyles and cultural welfare with the goal to reduce the likelihood of domestic violence, child maltreatment, provide guardianship and Foster Care/Kinship services including alternative care. This facility will support family preservation, re-unification including cultural, and linguistic connections to Thunderchild First Nation children, youth and families. Providing adequate resources to enable Thunderchild First Nation to keep their families together and keep children in culturally appropriate environments, regardless of where they reside. This facility will also provide counseling and training for Band members to develop culturally appropriate programs for aboriginal families. This facility will also serve as the healing centres to address the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of its Band members.
