The Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA) invites qualified and experienced proponents to submit proposals for the provision of Commercial Property Inspection Services for the SSBA General Insurance Plan (GIP).
The GIP provides coverage under 13 lines of insurance, including four self-funded loss pools designed to help participating school boards manage and self-insure against various types of insurable losses.
From a risk management perspective, infrastructure-related risks are a significant concern for schools and directly impact the renewal premiums under the GIP. Reducing these risks is a key part of the plan’s long-term strategy. To support this strategy, property inspections are essential. They represent one of the most effective methods of mitigating facility and infrastructure risks. The SSBA is committed to this proactive approach through the engagement of a dedicated commercial property inspection vendor.
Each year, a list of properties requiring inspection is provided. These properties include K–12 schools across Saskatchewan that are insured under the SSBA General Insurance Plan. A listing of properties requiring inspections are provided annually and covers all K-12 schools across Saskatchewan that are insured under the GIP.

They represent one of the most effective methods of mitigating facility and infrastructure risks.
The SSBA GIP requires the services of an independent vendor to conduct property and facility inspections for all schools insured within the GIP across the province of Saskatchewan through:
- Conducting thorough inspections of school buildings, including structural integrity, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety systems.
- Identifying deficiencies, hazards, and maintenance needs.
- Providing detailed reports with findings and recommendations to the school divisions and SSBA.
- Conducting follow-ups to assess the implementation of recommendations and verify compliance.
