Ornge operates a fleet of air and land ambulances, including PC-12 fixed-wing aircraft, AW139 rotor-wing helicopters, and critical care land ambulances. These assets are strategically deployed from fourteen base locations across Ontario.
With a team of over 650 dedicated professionals—including paramedics, pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, transport medicine physicians, and both medical and flight communications officers—Ornge delivers high-quality care across the province.
Our advanced and critical care paramedics are trained to provide intensive care-level treatment using modern and advanced techniques and medication’s, including Schedule I and Schedule IV controlled substances.
As such, Ornge is seeking information on controlled substances storage solution. The desired solution must:
- Be theft and tamper resistant
- Be able to be anchored in such a manner that it cannot be removed without first opening the door
- Operate for at least 24 hours with no network connection
- Operate for at least 24 hours with no external power source
- Accept biometric data, retina data, physical card/key, or a combination thereof, to restrict access to authorized individuals only
- Alarm, alert, or otherwise advise in instances where:
- Left unsecured for a period of time
- Loss of power/networking connection
- Any other issues/conditions that arise
- Ensure all stored data remains in Canada
- Allow for remote monitoring and programming
