The CIB is currently evaluating the investment needs in supporting the establishment of a critical minerals focused industrial park in Saguenay, Québec (the “Project” or “ZIP”). The Project is owned by, and its development is being led by SPA.
The Project will be situated on the zone industrialo-portuaire (ZIP, industrial-port zone), a currently unused 12 km2 industrial zone adjacent to the Port and owned by SPA. SPA plans to upgrade the ZIP with access to an electricity supply of up to 520 MW, gas supply of up to 45,000 m3/h, water supply as well as an onsite rail access.
SPA’s goal is that, once completed, the Project will be an attractive turnkey location for industrial clients, primarily those focused on the critical minerals, and will provide those clients with all key utility and transportation services that those clients may need.
The Project is uniquely positioned to become one of Canada’s key industrial hubs for critical minerals reflecting its strategic advantages:
- Proximity to major mineral resources;
- Adjacent to a deep-water port with year-round maritime access to international markets;
- Access to multimodal transport infrastructure including maritime, rail and highway connections;
- Access to industrial scale electricity, gas and water.
