C000387CM - RFP for Construction Management Services for SFU Interim School of Medicine

The purpose of this Request for Proposals is to invite prospective proponents with a successful track record of providing Construction Management services to submit proposals to Simon Fraser University for the provision of Construction Management services for the SFU SFU Interim School of Medicine, as further described in this RFP, at SFU’s Surrey campus address at 13450 102 Ave #250, Surrey, BC V3T 0A3. The University may select a Proponent for the Project or may elect to not engage any Proponent.

Today, SFU stands as Canada’s leading comprehensive research university and is ranked among the top universities in the world. The Surrey Campus, founded in 2002 and is a vibrant hub for teaching, learning and research situated in the heart of downtown Surrey.

In November 2022, as part of the StrongerBC action plan, the provincial government announced that SFU would become home to BC’s second School of Medicine , the first new School of Medicine  in western Canada in 55 years.

The Interim home for the School of Medicine will be based at SFU’s Surrey campus, in the heart of B.C.’s fastest-growing city, and will serve the need of people living within the boundaries of the Fraser Health Authority (FHA), B.C.’s largest health authority by population. This School of Medicine is being delivered in two distinct phases. An interim School of Medicine that will be located within the SFU Surrey existing fabric and the permanent School of Medicine located adjacent to SFU Central City.

Substantial Completion of the interim School of Medicine is scheduled to be no later than April 2026, same as the "One Time Delivery Date" on this RFP Notice.

The successful Proponent will serve in the capacity of Construction Manager at Risk on behalf of SFU to, briefly stated:
 

1. provide preconstruction advice on constructability, construction cost and schedule
2. complete destructive testing during pre-construction services, and
3. tender the Project scope;
