Description

The selected company will be responsible for:

Participant Recruitment
1. Recruiting a total of 3,000 survey respondents residing in Canada who self-identify as either Asian (n=1,000), Black (n=1,000), or Indigenous (n=1,000).
2. Within each racial-ethnic group, the sample must be:
  1. Equally divided by gender (i.e., approximately half men and half women/other gender minorities);
  2. Further stratified so that half of each gender subgroup identifies as a sexual minority (e.g., lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, queer).
  3. Each intersectional subgroup (i.e., race × gender × sexual orientation) must have a minimum of 250 participants. Please, see the table below for further details.
Survey Administration
1. Administering a 20–30 minute online questionnaire (questions to be provided by the research team).
2. Ensuring the survey is delivered in a secure and confidential manner.
Honoraria Management
1. Distributing participant incentives ranging from $25–$30 CAD per completed survey, based on criteria agreed upon with the research team.
Reporting & Communication
1. Providing regular recruitment and completion updates (e.g., weekly progress reports).
Assigning a primary point of contact for ongoing communication and troubleshooting.

Research Summary
This SSHRC-funded study aims to refine and validate the Intersectional Discrimination Index (InDI)—a multidimensional scale designed to measure how overlapping forms of discrimination, such as racism, sexism, and homophobia, impact health and well-being in Canada. By incorporating the lived experiences of diverse participants, including Black, Indigenous, Asian, and other multiply marginalized individuals, the study uses qualitative interviews and psychometric methods to ensure the InDI is culturally relevant, theoretically grounded, and psychometrically robust. The ultimate goal is to advance equity-focused research and improve the measurement of structural and interpersonal discrimination across public health, policy, and social research contexts.

Survey Details

The survey instrument will be provided by the research team.
The research protocol and the instrument have received prior ethics approval from the Simon Fraser University Research Ethics Board.
Participant identities must remain strictly confidential.
The anticipated per-participant honorarium is $25–$30 CAD.
Data collection is expected to be completed by December 2025.
