Description

The purpose of this request for proposal (RFP) is to engage a qualified Art and/or Heritage Conservation firm to carry out concrete restoration work and renew Dinny’s protective and artistic coating system. The scope of this RFP does not include structural rehabilitation, which was completed in 2019.
Restoration work is to include:
1. Overall cleaning
2. Removal of aged existing paint
3. Cleaning and application of a corrosion inhibitor to all exposed reinforcing steel and metal lathe
 4. Overall application of a migrating corrosion inhibitor to slow the corrosion of internal reinforcing steel and metal lathe
 5. Filling of large losses and cracks with compatible repair mortars
6. Filling of all small cracks and sub-surface voids by injection of compatible repair grout
7. Application of a breathable protective coating system, artistically and historically consistent with the sculpture’s previous paint coatings.

Please note this entrance is on the south side of the zoo, off of Zoo Road, it is not the usual admission location on the north side of the Zoo.
