DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT
Dr. Timothy Burkhart is a tenure-stream Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Toronto (2020-present). Dr. Burkhart’s research focuses on the multi-scale (tissue- to joint- to extremity-level) biomechanical contributions to lower extremity injury risk, treatment, and rehabilitation. Using a variety of innovative methods, including in vitro testing, in vivo motion, force, and electromyography analysis, imaging techniques, and computational approaches, his research enables Canadians to maintain physical activity levels and mobility and remain pain free through the lifespan. He brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective, as his graduate and postdoctoral training spans the departments of Kinesiology, Engineering, and Orthopaedic Surgery. The new infrastructure will allow Dr. Burkhart to use advanced isokinetic musculoskeletal strength testing techniques to research innovative risk reductions, treatments and rehabilitation of orthopaedic musculoskeletal injures and disorders.
The procurement is anticipated to involve negotiation. An electronic auction is not anticipated.
