Wellspring Family Resource and Crisis Centre in Whitecourt, Alberta is interested in developing a multi-unit apartment building which will provide emergency shelters, transitional shelters, and affordable units to the low income and vulnerable families and visitors in the town of Whitecourt. This building will serve as an affordable housing continuum providing people support to get back on their feet and enable them to move through the various types of housing as their situation improves. The Whitecourt Affordable Housing Project involves the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of forty-two (42) affordable housing units (with balconies) and two (2) commercial units for retail and daycare. The project will need to be constructed as two separate buildings with a link between them. The residential will be forty-two (42) affordable housing units nine (9) must be constructed to the latest barrier-free standard and spread out to have some located on all floors. The buildings will cover +/- 45,000 square feet and efficiently placed on the site, these buildings will house transitional units, affordable units and market units, a common area, administration space, secondhand store and a daycare facility. The project will include construction of the parking lot and landscaping.
