RFP-18004 - Coding for Health Information Managemnt

1.1Scope of Work
CMH requires external coders to assist with coding and abstracting DAD (Discharge Abstract Database) and NACRS (National Ambulatory Care Reporting System) visits on a daily/weekly basis to meet monthly/quarterly submission deadlines. External Coders must be certified with CHIMA (Canadian Health Information Management Association) and have a minimum of 2 years current coding and abstracting experience. Further the coder must complete courses at their own expense (CPE Credits) pertaining to annual updates and have an excellent understanding for current Coding Standards and Guidelines. The coder is responsible for annual certification fees to maintain their professional designation with CHIMA.
 
CMH requires the Preferred Proponent to provide methods the coders will use for communication and peer support in a remote setting to ensure the records are coded in a consistent manner. Coders must use a documentation query process to CMH physicians to ensure coding and weighted cases are accurate and to complete Project 100. As well coders must use the query process to CIHI (Canadian Institute for Health Information) when they need coding clarification.
