The City of Quesnel invites proposals from qualified firms to prepare a Quesnel Placemaking Features Plan
Recognizing the value of sense of place and pride of place for both residents and visitors, the purpose of this project is to develop plans for place-making design features, such as public art and installations that could be incorporated as strategic locations that fit with the City’s brand (brand guidelines linked in “additional resources”). The project’s goals are to create plans for unique places in the City that will serve as attractants for tourists and locals alike. These places should be community-oriented and invite engagement between citizens as well as with the installments themselves. They should attract people with their unique and fun qualities. The plan will assess opportunities within the geographical area of the City of Quesnel limits.
The City of Quesnel and the Cariboo Regional District as a whole are highly dependent on the forestry industry. Tourism provides an opportunity for economic diversification, as well as resident attraction. Development of unique place-making features will enable Quesnel to instill greater pride of place in its residents while providing more reasons for visitors to stop and stay.
This project is funded by the BC Rural Dividend and is part of a larger Place-making project.
The objective of this request is to provide the City with qualified proponents capable of carrying on the work herein defined. The subsequent proponent submissions will form the basis for evaluation and selection.
