The contractor will provide specialized expertise in General Electric’s Advanced Energy Management System (AEMS) and Manitoba Hydro’s custom applications. This includes advanced knowledge in state estimation, remedial action schemes (RAS), real-time contingency analysis, and network sequence applications. The SME will support Manitoba Hydro in completing the EMP 3.5 AEMS upgrade project, two related AEMS system HVDC enhancement projects, and the Wide Area Monitoring System (WAMS) upgrade. In addition, the contractor will assist with training, regular operations duties, and knowledge transfer to new staff to ensure a smooth transition through these projects.
Additional Tasks include:
- Ensures documentation of processes and configurations to support ongoing operations and future troubleshooting.
- Establishes clear communication channels and escalation paths for timely issue resolution.
- Delivers post-implementation support and monitoring to validate system
- Responsible for training new and existing staff to ensure they are proficient with updated systems and processes.
- Provides guidance and technical support to Manitoba Hydro (MH) and MISO staff when resolving complex system issues.
- Allocates time for knowledge transfer, ensuring a thorough handoff of critical technical expertise to internal staff.
