This tender is intended to:
1. Establish a binding contract with the low bidder to undertake flood response activities for a SPRING
flood event for the locations identified in this contract.
2. Establish a non-binding call-out list for all bidders to undertake flood response activities for possible
future SUMMER and/or FALL flood events in the locations identified in this contract.
The Work in this Non-Bonded Tender No.: RF-97-103 is generally described below:
The work in this Tender is part of the Province’s flood fighting efforts and mainly consists of the construction
and removal of clay closures at various openings of the permanent flood protection dikes known as the
Assiniboine River Dikes and the Portage Diversion Dikes, and opening and closing of the Portage Diversion
Failsafe, should they be required.
The Contractor shall provide specified equipment able to complete the following work activities as required, as
directed by the Engineer, including but not limited to:
• Prepare, excavate, load, haul and place borrow material
• Dike repair, erosion control, maintenance and emergent work
• Opening and closing of the Portage Diversion Failsafe
• Removal of placed borrow material and site clean up/remediation
• Traffic Management
Due to the nature of flood events, the exact scale, timing and extent of the work is largely unknown. There is no
guarantee of quantities. Should dike closures or opening/closure of the failsafe not be required, equipment will
not be mobilized and no payment will be made.
