McMaster University is issuing this Request for Supplier Qualifications (RFSQ) to identify and pre-qualify experienced and capable contractors for upcoming heritage building envelope restoration projects across the University. The goal is to establish a roster of qualified suppliers who can be called upon for future projects involving the conservation, repair, and rehabilitation of heritage building envelope systems—including masonry, structural elements, and architectural details—on historic buildings throughout campus. The scope of work may include, but is not limited to, the inspection, assessment, and restoration of heritage building envelope components. This includes brick and stone masonry restoration, structural reinforcement, and the preservation or replication of original architectural details such as cornices, flashing, and ornamental elements. Work may involve condition surveys, tuckpointing using historically accurate mortars, masonry cleaning, and the repair or replacement of damaged masonry units using materials and methods consistent with heritage conservation standards. Proponents with demonstrated expertise in heritage conservation, traditional masonry techniques, and the restoration of historic building envelopes are encouraged to respond. The term of this RFSQ (Heritage Contractors) is for three (3) years from the date of the award, with an option to be extended for two (2) additional one (1) plus one (1) year terms.
