he University of Waterloo invites qualified vendors to submit Proposals for RFP# 2026-RFPN-00255 Peatland Restoration in Indonesia in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposal (RFP). The University of Waterloo intends to select one (1) supplier that meets or exceeds the Requirements identified in this RFP.The FINCAPES (Flood Impacts, Carbon Pricing, and Ecosystem Sustainability) project is a multi-stakeholder initiative designed with a gender-responsive approach to support Indonesia in adapting to climate change, mitigating its impacts, and conserving biodiversity in a socially and economically sustainable way. FINCAPES is jointly implemented by the Faculty of Mathematics and Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo, funded by Global Affairs Canada. It is a 5.5-year initiative aimed at building capacity within government institutions, universities, and relevant partners. In collaboration with IPB University, which has extensive experience in restoration and conservation efforts, the FINCAPES project aims to enhance and accelerate Indonesia's adoption of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for the restoration and conservation of peatlands and mangroves. The project supports the establishment and operationalization of a research center called the IPB Centre for Applied Research in Nature-based Solutions (I-CAN). I-CAN conducts research, field trials, and documentation to develop better NbS practices, aiming to sustainably restore critical peatland and mangrove ecosystems and preserve biodiversity at target locations. These restoration sites serve as living laboratories, offering valuable insights and practical applications for ecosystem restoration and climate change adaptation. One of the target locations for peatland restoration is in Jambi Province.
