The District of Summerland requires an experienced Contractor to complete architectural, mechanical, and electrical upgrades to the Summerland Arts & Cultural Centre building. For details on the Deliverables and specific scope of Work, please refer to the “Summerland Arts & Cultural Centre Building Upgrade” Issued for Building Permit/Tender drawings included as Part E, Attachment 1. A few notes on the sequencing of the Work: • We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Rick Hansen Foundation and the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation. The District received a grant from the Rick Hansen Foundation to complete $20,000 worth of washroom accessibility upgrades as part of this project. This includes design fees. In order to be eligible for funding, washroom upgrades must be completed, invoiced and reported to the Rick Hansen Foundation by the District prior to the end of February. Proponents must demonstrate in their schedule how they will complete the washroom upgrades by February 25, 2021. • Part of the building will need to be available for storage during the renovations. The District proposes using the Meeting Room on the lower level (Room 106) for storage during the renovations. Once the upgrades have been substantially completed for the rest of the building, the contents of that room may be cleared back into the other spaces and then any work in that room may be completed. The District is also open to alternative suggestions or sequencing.
An optional site visit has been scheduled for January 8, 2021 at 9:00am. Interested parties shall convene inside the main entrance of the top floor of the Summerland Arts & Cultural Centre, located at 9525 Wharton Street. Interested parties should contact the RFP Contact Person by email to register in advance. The site visit is intended to give Proponents an opportunity to physically view the site. Although the visit is optional, it is recommended that interested Proponents attend so that they may familiarize themselves with the site and any necessary conditions that may affect performance of Work in order to determine full extent of Work. Please note that administrative staff will be present to facilitate access, but there will be no technical expertise present during the site visit. Proponents should submit any questions they may have in accordance with Section 1.3 of this Part. Attendees must follow COVID-19 protocols and masks will be mandatory for the duration of the site visit, unless an individual is able to demonstrate that they are exempt from the requirement to wear a mask. Individuals may not attend if they are feeling COVID-19 symptoms or required to self-isolate.
