Description

Long Lake Gold Mine is located at the south end of Long Lake southeast of Greater Sudbury. The mine operated intermittently between 1908 and 1939. During this time the site produced an estimated 221,000 tons of tailings. The tailings were deposited in an uncontained manner and have eroded into Luke Creek and Long Lake. The tailings contain sulphides and produce acid mine drainage that contains elevated metals, particularly arsenic. This has resulted in human health risks and degradation of the receiving environment.

Access to site to facilitate rehabilitation is through cottage country, the bulk of traffic is generally residential. Concerns have been raised on many occasions about traffic safety risks associated with construction. A conceptual design report was prepared identifying traffic safety hazards that, if mitigated, would significantly improve traffic safety.
Scope of Work
The successful Vendor will advance the Long Lake Gold Mine conceptual access road design to a construction ready state, complete with construction ready drawings and specifications. The scope of work includes the subsequent construction quality assurance, technical and contract management support during the implementation of the remediation work.

Mandatory Information Session: April 12, 2021, 11:00-12:00 (EST)

All Bidders are a required to register with the Ministry Contact Pamela Clarke via email no later than 3:00 p.m. Toronto time on Friday, April 9, 2021. Upon registration, the Bidders will be sent a MS TEAMS meeting invite.

The purpose of the mandatory Bidder information session is to assist prospective Bidders in understanding the procurement process in a formal tendering environment and to provide an overview of the Ministry’s requirements, as set out in the RFB. All Bidders are required to register and participate in the mandatory Bidder information session. Any bids received from a Bidder who has not attended the mandatory information session could be disqualified.

Any questions related to the Deliverables will not be answered during the Bidder information session. Bidders are requested to submit their questions relating to the Deliverables in writing via e-mail to the Ministry Contact identified in section 1.1.8.
