Alberta Agriculture and Forestry is responsible for managing wildfires within the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. In order to deliver cost effective wildfire suppression activities, facilities are provided for firefighting resources, and seasonal wildfire staff. Within the Peace River Forest Area (PRFA), fire bases are strategically located to provide pre-suppression placement of resources (helitack, unit, and firetack crews) in a readiness position to respond to initial wildfire starts.
In an effort to mitigate the risk associated with COVID-19, and to meet the needs of the Province, additional trailers may be required at the Manning primary fire base.
Services will be required on an “as-needed” basis with no guarantee of work. Upon request by the Province, trailers must be on site, and fully operational within 24 hours of said request.
Facilities must be compliant with all applicable legislation including the Public Health Act. They must also meet provincial standards for manpower resources on pre-suppression and suppression duties.
The Province may request the following facilities:
• Wash car(s) with laundry and individual washrooms with showers
• Dining trailer(s)
• Wellsite engineer trailer(s)
• Four (4) to (8) person sleeper unit(s) (single occupancy)
• Conference / rec trailer(s)
