2021-0127 & 2021-0124 - Willow Drive (400 & 500 Block) and Ridge Road - Engineering Services

Willow Drive
As part of regular updates and replacements to the Town’s underground utility services as provided in the Town’s Water Master Servicing Report, the water main service along Willow Drive requires the upgrading of two sections of the existing 100 mm Cast Iron pipe to 150mm PVC pipe and replacement of one section of the existing 150 mm Ductile Iron pipe to 150mm PVC. The design for the replacement of sanitary services along a two (2) block section of Willow Drive as shown in Appendix B is required.

In addition, the following assessments of the existing stormwater and sanitary services will be required:
1. To determine whether there is a need for stormwater facilities along the two (2) block area of the water service and sanitary upgrades; and
2. An assessment to be completed to determine the need for the replacement of the existing 200 mm PVC Sanitary along the entire length of Willow Drive.

To facilitate this, the Town of Strathmore is requesting proposals for design phase with construction management services to be negotiated in 2022. Tendering and construction will occur throughout the spring/summer of 2022 with engineering design being completed in the fall of 2021 to allow for the Town’s Capital Budget planning process.

Ridge Road
Ridge Road is a main commercial road that parallels the north side of #1 Highway. The road sees a lot of heavy traffic use particularly heavy trucks and commercial vehicles and is in need of repair. The asphalt surface of the road is deteriorating due to an inadequate road base for the heavy truck traffic. As part of providing the Downtown core of Strathmore with stormwater services. The Town must first extend stormwater services along Ridge Road starting at Wheatland Trail and heading east as shown in Appendix B. The Town will be connecting to an existing 300mm PVC storm line to provide future services along Fourth Street & Fifth Avenue, in accordance with the Town’s Master Servicing Study. An assessment will be required of the existing sanitary service along this stretch of Ridge Road.

Another design component of this project is the construction of a sidewalk to complete connectivity to the existing sidewalk in fronting The Station Restaurant along Ridge Road.
