Notice is hereby given that Fraser Health Authority (the "Health Authority"), through their agent Provincial Health Services Authority ("PHSA"), intends to directly award a purchase to the following supplier to provide Staxi Wheelchairs for Surrey Memorial Hospital at an estimated value of $91,128.71.

In accordance with applicable trade agreements, PHSA, as agent for the Health Authority has chosen not to proceed with a competitive process for the following reason:
· the goods or services can be supplied only by the selected supplier and no alternative or substitute exists for the following reason:
To ensure compatibility with existing goods, or to maintain specialized goods that must be maintained by the manufacturer of those goods or its representative.
Rationale
Surrey Memorial currently utilizes Staxi wheelchairs. The Staxi Wheelchairs are proprietary wheelchairs that are unique in the way that the products nest together and therefore saves floor space, enables storage and keeps entrances and egresses clear. Staxi chairs are used and established throughout the hospital and the unique features of the Staxi chairs are required to match existing chairs and docking stations. Staxi is the sole distributor of the Staxi Wheelchair product in Canada.

Vendors who wish to challenge this decision should submit a detailed written objection for the attention of Karl Eadie, Buyer Allied Health, by email before 2:00pm Pacific Time, August 16, 2021. PHSA will review any and all issues received by this date and provide due consideration to each objection.
