Description

Project Background – The Province has identified 18.8 hectares in the Edson Forest Area to be treated through pruning, selective thinning of identified small diameter juvenile understory and mulching of woody debris. The proposed treatment area encompasses fuels that have been identified for removal adjacent to the Hamlet of Cadomin, Alberta to help protect the community in the event of a wildfire.

Treatment area locations: Sections SE 8 47 23 and west of the 5 meridian.

Treatment areas can be accessed by road.

Project Objective - The prime objective of this treatment is to reduce fuel load, fire intensity and ember transport by the pruning and selective thinning of exsiting conifer within the treatment area along the west side of Cadomin. Any dead and downed debris within the treatment area will also be disposed of via mulching. Services will require a comination of hand crews power saws) and suitable mechanized equipment.
