764496 - RFI for Commercial & Residential Water Meters

EPCOR has about 300,000 water meters in Edmonton. These meters are used to register consumption to bill residential and commercial customers. Residential meters are typically located in the customer’s basement while commercial meters are located in the boiler room or utility room on site. These meters are currently read manually (radio frequency or manual touchpads) by walking or driving through neighborhoods. EPCOR is planning to shift to an Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) over the next five years using Landis+Gyr AMI modules.

In addition, EPCOR also supplies hydrant meters to customers with valid permits. These hydrant meters are used to measure water pulled from approved EPCOR hydrants. The consumption is then billed based on meter readings from the meters.

The purpose for the input from the Proponent is to:
- Determine the Proponent’s interest in participating in the Request for Information.
- Understand the Proponent’s services and product offerings, level of experience, industry partnerships;
- Gather information and input from Proponents that may be used to inform EPCOR of possible further steps that could shape the direction of the Project; and
- Assist EPCOR in determining its requirements, scope of work and approach, and expected costs to assist in the preparation of the next stage of procurement requests.

Other:
- EPCOR may request to meet with Proponents that have submitted responses to the RFI for the purpose of discussing the project
- EPCOR may competitively bid the services at a future date
