189873 - Lonsdale Energy - Carbon Neutrality Roadmap

Lonsdale Energy Corp. (Lonsdale Energy) is requesting responses to this Request for Proposal (RFP) for developing a Carbon Neutrality Roadmap (Hereafter referred to as the Roadmap) for the Lonsdale Energy District Energy System (DES) (hot water and chilled water) to enable Lonsdale Energy to meet its ambitious carbon emission targets, resulting in carbon neutrality by 2050. Lonsdale Energy is fully owned by City of North Vancouver but is governed and operated as a separate Local Government Corporation. The Lonsdale Energy DES consists of:

 Approximately 14 km of hot water and chilled water distribution pipe systems (DPS) services 107 buildings with approx. 7,400 residential units, as well as numerous commercial and institutional end-users,
 The DPS consists of pre-insulated EN253 shallow buried pipes with parallel supply and return pipes, currently ranging in size from 3” to 10”,  The DPS is connecting the 107 buildings via heat exchangers, or Energy Transfer Stations (ETS), in each building throughout the City of North Vancouver,
 Hot water supply temp is in the range of 70 – 85 °C (lower during summer and higher during winter),
 9 mini plants (as of the end of 2024) are spread throughout the system with a peak heating capacity of approx. 35 MW. The mini plants are mostly Natural Gas fired hot water boilers,
 Additionally, Londale Energy operates two small district cooling systems, providing cooling for commercial buildings via Heat Recovery Chillers

The consultant team will collaborate with Lonsdale Energy staff and key stakeholders within City of North Vancouver (The City) to develop the Roadmap.
