PTOT25-048 - Community Wildfire Protection Plan

The Town of Truro (the “Municipality”) is seeking proposals from qualified consulting firms or groups of consultants to lead the development of a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). The purpose of developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan is to identify the wildfire risks within and surrounding the Town of Truro, specifically regarding potential wildfire outbreaks in Truro’s Victoria Park, its watershed area, or adjacent undeveloped wooded areas. This area comprises about 3,000 acres of forested area in the centre of the urban area of Truro. The plan aims to describe the potential consequences of a wildfire impacting these areas and to examine options and strategies for reducing wildfire risk to the community. The plan should also outline a local emergency response plan if a wildfire were to occur. The Community Wildfire Protection Plan will assess the level of risk in the area, taking into account how the community will develop in the future. It will also shed light on the threats to human lives, property, and critical infrastructure posed by wildfires. In addition to defining these threats, it is essential to identify the measures needed to mitigate them and outline a plan of action for implementing such measures.
