No Substitute Products: Bidders must provide products that are of the same description, brand name, model and/or part number as detailed in the item description of the bid solicitation. Bidders are advised that substitute products will not be considered for the following reasons:

DRDC-Valcartier cannot accept an equivalent product because the chemical composition of this optical fibre is important. An optical fibre mainly made of Indium fluoride can reach a good transmission between the visible up to 5 microns in the infrared for a long optical fibre, which is not possible with others kinds of infrared optical fibres made of fluoride glasses. Moreover, this kind of optical fibre mainly made of Indium fluoride has an optical damage threshold higher than others kinds of infrared optical fibers which are not made of fluoride glasses. The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement.
