MAZ 3000 LASER DIFFRACTION SYSTEM 23240-180563/A

The Natural Resources Canada has a requirement for one Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer system including installation and technical support which must meet all of the mandatory technical requirements as specified below and the mandatory evaluation criteria in accordance with the mandatory specifications detailed in Annex A for a delivery to Ottawa, Ontario.

General:

The Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer must be a commercially available product with a proven track record with previous customers and published information regarding specifications and available options. A prototype unit will not be accepted.

The Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer, including accessories, must fit on a 1000 mm long by 760 mm deep laboratory bench.

The Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer and accessories must be capable of operating on a 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz power supply. The electrical components of the system must be approved by an accredited certification or evaluation agency for electrical safety according to the requirements of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.

The Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer must be able to operate under laboratory non-condensing, non-corrosive conditions that range from 15 to 35 °C and relative humidity between 30% and 60%.

Technical Specifications:

The instrument must have a capability of measuring particles over a span of 0.1 to 2000 µm or better when used in conjunction with either a wet sample dispersion or dry powder dispersion accessory.

The instrument must be based on laser scattering technology and must use Mie theory of light scattering to calculate particle size.

The instrument must be capable of performing an automatic optical alignment prior to sample analysis.

The instrument must be operable with interchangeable wet dispersion or dry powder dispersion sample accessories.

The instrument must be provided with a wet dispersion accessory that will contain and circulate at least 100 mL of dispersant. The accessory must include an ultrasonic probe for enhanced sample dispersion. The components of the accessory that are exposed to sample must be made of chemically resistant materials. The supplier must also provide a wet measurement cell that is compatible with the wet dispersion accessory.

The instrument must be provided with a dry powder dispersion accessory a dry measurement cell, a vacuum pump and any other equipment that is required for operation of the accessory.

The components of the accessory that are exposed to sample must be made of chemically resistant materials.

The instrument must be provided with software that will control the instrument and sampling accessories, enable real-time data tracking, data analysis and report generation. In addition, the software must include a method development capability that will facilitate the optimization of measurement conditions in real time. The software must be compatible with a Windows 7 (32 bit or 64 bit) operating system.

The vendor must provide free software updates for the life of the Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer.

The vendor must provide particle size standards within the operating range of the instrument to enable the performance of quality control checks.

The vendor must provide on-site installation of the Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer according to factory procedures and must include a verification of the system operational performance and basic training on the use of the instrument, software and accessories.

The supplier must provide Technical Support in the form of a call support line during regular business hours to assist with the troubleshooting of problems that may arise during the use of the Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer.

The vendor must provide a minimum one-year warranty covering all parts and labour.
