19TDRFMB811 - Infographics Services for the Reforestation Standard of Alberta Agriculture and Forestry

The Reforestation Standard of Alberta (RSA) is a comprehensive reforestation directive (currently 376 pages) enabled by the Timber Management Regulation. The RSA applies to all public forested land where harvesting of trees has occurred under the authority of a timber disposition. It describes a diverse range of standards and procedures including development of forest type (stratum) specific Mean Annual Increment (MAI) performance standards, stratum declarations (reforestation objectives), strata balancing, establishment surveys and performance surveys. It is largely composed of text and tables.

Infographics are a relatively new field, gaining in popularity and used in both digital and print media. They are a communication medium able to present complex information simply, effectively and within a comparatively small space. Thus, replacing RSA written text or accompanying written text with an infographic, where appropriate, would greatly assist RSA users with understanding both the requirements and the intent of the requirements in an engaging and visually memorable way. In addition, these infographics can be multifunctional for use in RSA training, application development, and social media. The objective of this project and the provision of this RFP is to develop infographics for key RSA procedures.

During the provision of the RSA infographic services, the contractor will be expected to: 1) have their own equipment, as necessary in the fulfillment of the contract; 2) work with subject matter experts in the fulfillment of the contract; and 3) attend in-person meetings at the Forest Management Branch head office or as mutually agreed to by Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and the Contractor.
