COLPlayground - RFP(75/782): “PLAYGROUND REPLACEMENTS AT LINCOLN PARK & HERITAGE PARK” LACOMBE, AB

The City of Lacombe is requesting proposals from qualified proponents to be the Prime Contractor to complete the removal of existing playground structures, design, and install the new turn-key playgrounds for both Lincoln Park and Heritage Park. Replacement of Lincoln and Heritage Park playgrounds shall be done with similar and improved versions of play units, accommodating comparable ages while adding a piece of adult aerobic exercise equipment to each. Although the playgrounds are in close proximity to each other and shall be unique from each other, swings are important to include in each design. A total budget, not to exceed $300,000 plus GST is allocated (for both playgrounds) towards the cost of removal, design, purchase and deliver of the equipment, protective surfacing and borders applicable to the project. Price is to include removal and disposal of existing playground structures, freight to sites, offloading, and storage if needed, installation, concrete, auguring, removal of tailings, installation of protective surfacing and installation of borders.

The equipment and design shall be unique (themes are welcome) and foster the development of motor, sensory, and social skills. The equipment shall include activities for both quiet and group interactions. A complementary mix of climbing, agility, spinning, exploratory swinging, and sliding activities are required, while being different from traditional playgrounds. A fluid flow of the layouts shall allow for play patterns, which inspire playful and engaging interactions for children.
