21TDRRSD834 - Bow Basin Water Management Infrastructure – Mechanical System Services

The Provincially-owned water management infrastructure located in the Bow River Basin provides essential secured water supply for irrigation, industrial, municipal and domestic uses throughout the region. These water supply system assets are critical to support the local economy, provide safe drainage and flood control. These major headworks conveyance and retention systems are located throughout the region consisting of numerous dams and canals. Major components requiring services include river diversions, small to large dams including Travers, Little Bow, Twin Valley, Carolside, and Severn dams, river pump houses, water pipelines, extensive canal systems and hydraulic regulating structures. Each of these projects have extensive, complex mechanical systems including hydraulic gates, gate hoist actuators, stems and cables, regulating valves of various designs, valve hydraulic actuators, gearboxes, motors, pumps, and other electro-mechanical components. These components require detailed inspection, periodic trouble-shooting and preventative maintenance services. In addition, routine servicing is required to ensure the components are well managed and reliable service life is extended.
