This Request for Proposals (the “RFP”) is an invitation by the Saskatchewan Power Corporation (“SaskPower”) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for the provision of the SaskPower Insulator Washing Project – 2025 & 2026, as further described in the RFP Particulars (Appendix A) (the “ Work”).
SaskPower is a Saskatchewan Crown Corporation continued under The Power Corporation Act (Saskatchewan). It is principally responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity for most of Saskatchewan.
SaskPower is seeking Insulator Washing services for a for a period of two (2) years, with an option in favour of SaskPower to extend the Contract on the same terms and conditions for an additional term of up to three (3) one (1) year option terms.
Insulator washing is essential for maintaining the reliability of electrical systems. Dirty or contaminated insulators can lead to electrical faults like leakage currents, flashovers, and pole fires, causing disruptions in power supply, safety hazards, and significant expenses. Regular washing prevents these issues, ensuring uninterrupted electricity flow and minimizing downtime and associated costs.
The scope of insulator washing has been identified based on their location in relation to a source of contamination from potash mines, fertilizer plants, heavy industrial areas and oil -refineries. Structures located within a 2 km radius around the property boundary of such facilities have been identified for washing.
