This Request for Supplier Qualification (RFSQ) is an invitation by Simon Fraser University (“SFU”) to prospective proponents (the “Proponents”) to submit their response in compliance with this RFSQ. The purpose of this RFSQ is to establish a list of Qualified Suppliers that SFU will use to deliver specific requests for invitations to bid for work, or to directly award work at SFU’s Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver campuses.
Subject to the provisions of this RFSQ and other existing SFU rules and policies SFU intends to award work to Qualified Suppliers on “as-and-when” basis. Work may include capital projects, repair, renewal, maintenance and emergency works, exterior additions/alterations, interior tenant improvements, retrofits as well as refurbishment projects. See RFSQ Section 2.3 for further details. By using a list of prequalified vendors SFU expects provide fair opportunity to Qualified Suppliers as well as save time and effort in awarding these works. SFU expects the list to be up to six or more pre-qualified suppliers.
SFU in its sole and unfettered discretion reserves the right to make any changes to the process of awarding works as described in this RFSQ. This includes, but is not limited to, the cancellation of any List of Qualified Suppliers, the addition of Suppliers to the list, or the removal of Suppliers from it.
2.3 Scope of Work
Mandatory Category Confirmation
To support SFU’s planning and evaluation process, Proponents must clearly indicate whether their submission is limited to Site Furnishings only. This requirement is confirmed in Appendix B – Submission Form.
Category Streams for Qualification
SFU will qualify suppliers under the following two streams or both:
- Stream 1 – Interior Furnishings
Includes all interior furniture types such as seating, desks, tables, storage solutions, modular systems, and specialty interior furnishings.
- Stream 2 – Site Furnishings (outdoor)
Includes products designed for exterior spaces such as benches, tables, waste/recycling units, bike racks, planters, and other outdoor/site amenities.
Proponents may apply to one or both streams. All stream selections must be confirmed in Appendix B – Submission Form. This confirmation helps SFU determine which category the Proponent should be evaluated under.
Work, if requested, may occur at any of SFU’s three campuses located in Burnaby, Surrey, or Vancouver.
Qualified Suppliers will be required to supply goods and services in compliance with all applicable laws, trade regulations and SFU policies, as may be amended from time to time, as well as terms of applicable Purchase Orders.
SFU reserves the right to designate certain furniture items supplied through this RFSQ as standard systems and specifications for use across all campuses. Selected items may be incorporated into SFU’s standardization strategy to ensure consistency in design, performance, accessibility, and long-term maintainability.
The scopes of work may include, but are not to be limited to furniture supply, delivery, installation, repair, renewal, disassembly, deconstruction, removal, and inspection.
