University Health Network (UHN) is among the ranks of the world’s leading providers of exemplary patient care and innovative research and teaching. UHN Researchers, trainees and technical staff work to understand and prevent disease, speed diagnosis, develop more effective treatment and improve the quality of life.

The hospital is looking to renovate approximately 6,500 square feet of the basement floor of the Peter Munk wing located within the Toronto General Hospital (TGH) building at the University Health Network. Within this space the hospital will house the newly created Image Guided Discovery Laboratory (IGDL). The new facility will be housed in the basement level of TGH adjacent to UHN’s Cyclotron and MR-PET facilities. The facility will provide much-needed augments to UHN’s fully utilized imaging research, high performance computing and phantom prototyping facilities. In combination with the existing facilities, it will represent a unique resource for Canadian research.

The Image Guided Discovery Laboratory (IGDL) will consist of a virtual autopsy room, shielded translational MRI and imaging development bays; laboratory space; electronics, robotics and phantom development rooms and image analysis dry labs. The space will be fitted with the equipment necessary to conduct the research, from fume hoods and soldering stations to spectrometers and imaging systems.
