DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT
Professor Walker’s group measures the chemical composition of the atmosphere using both remote sensing and in situ spectroscopic techniques. For a new project, she will be measuring the spectra of solar radiation in the mid-infrared region. From these direct solar spectra, her group will retrieve the abundances of gases including O3, HNO3, HCl, HF, CH4, N2O, CO, C2H6, C2H2, HCOH, HCN, OCS, and CO2. The spectrometer will be integrated with an external solar tracker (user-supplied, to direct the input radiation from the Sun into the spectrometer) and a weather-proof enclosure to make a system that can be deployed at an observatory or at a temporary location. The primary goal for the new project is to examine the changing composition of forest fire emissions.
The procurement is anticipated to involve negotiation. An electronic auction is not anticipated.
